Advanced options for searching the the variant registry

Advanced search terms

Advanced terms can be utilised to allow users to search specific fields with more accuracy, for example:
      • An A>T|T>A search of the 'DNA change' field would return only A to T or T to A substitutions.

      • A c.3197 > search of the 'DNA change' field would return only substitutions at position c.3197.

      • A p.(R *) search of the 'Protein change' field would return only arginine to stop codon changes.

      • An Asian search of the 'Ethnic origin' field would return both Asian and Caucasian entries.

      • An Asian !Caucasian search of the 'Ethnic origin' field would return only Asian entries.

      • An Asian|African !Caucasian search of the 'Ethnic origin' field would return Asian or African but not Caucasian entries.

      • A "Caucasian" search of the 'Ethnic origin' field would return only Caucasian entries.

Column hiding

The variant registry overview can be personalised by hiding fields which are not required by clicking the red icon next to the relevant field heading. These settings are stored for each user, so will remain the same when users subsequently access the registry (until changed). Clicking the ñ symbol between visible field headings will restore previously hidden fields.

Field sorting

Each field in the variant registry can be sorted by clicking either of the arrows next to the relevant field heading. The Ù symbol will sort values from high to low, while the Ú symbol will sort values from low to high (the default setting). Only one field can be sorted at once, with the field currently sorted highlighted by a darker blue background.
